چکیده

Abstract—In this paper we extend CSL (Continuous Stochastic Logic) with an expected time and an expected reward operator, both of which are parameterized by a random terminal time. With the help of such operators we can state for example that the expected sojourn time in a set of goal states within some generally distributed delay is at most (at least) some time threshold. In addition, certain performance measures of systems which contain general distributions can be calculated with the aid of this extended logic. We extend the efficient model checking of CTMCs against the logic CSL developed by Katoen et al. [1] to cater for the new operator. Our method involves precomputing a family of mixed Poisson expected sojourn time coefficients for a range of random variables which includes Pareto, uniform and gamma distributions, but otherwise carries the same computational cost as calculating CSL until formulae. c © 1900 Elsevier Science Ltd. Discrete-Time Rewards Model-Checked

This paper presents a model-checking approach for analyzing discrete-time Markov reward models. For this purpose, the temporal logic probabilistic CTL is extended with reward constraints. This allows to formulate complex measures – involving expected as well as accumulated rewards – in a precise and succinct way. Algorithms to efficiently analyze such formulae are introduced. The approach is il...

Simple random walks on wheel graphs

A simple random walk on a graph is defined in which a particle moves from one vertex to any adjacent vertex, each with equal probability. The expected hitting time is the expected number of steps to get from one vertex to another before returning to the starting vertex. In this paper, using the electrical network approach, we provide explicit formulae for expected hitting times for simple rando...

N-Policy for M/G/1 Machine Repair Model with Mixed Standby Components, Degraded Failure and Bernoulli Feedback

In this paper, we study N-policy for a finite population Bernoulli feedback queueing model for machine repair problem with degraded failure. The running times of the machines between breakdowns have an exponential distribution. The repair times of the machines are independent and identically distributed random variables. If at any time a machine fails, it is sent to the repairman for repairing,...

A New Multi-objective Model for Multi-mode Project Planning with Risk

The purpose of this problem is to choose a set of project activities for crashing, in a way that the expected project time, cost and risk are minimized and the expected quality is maximized. In this problem, each project activity can be performed with a specific executive mode. Each executive mode is characterized with four measures, namely the expected time, cost, quality and risk. In this pap...

Computing Quantiles in Markov Reward Models

Probabilistic model checking mainly concentrates on techniques for reasoning about the probabilities of certain path properties or expected values of certain random variables. For the quantitative system analysis, however, there is also another type of interesting performance measure, namely quantiles. A typical quantile query takes as input a lower probability bound p ∈ ]0, 1] and a reachabili...
